Apple OS X Mountain Lion: New Upgrade Released

Apple announced the latest version of its Mac operating system will be released.

OS X Puma makes it easier to share media social networks and also has a notification panel similar to that found in many smartphones.

The news was revealed in the company's third quarter earnings release.

Mac sales were 2% on the year, but the results fell short of forecasts of many analysts.
The company's shares fell 5% in after-hours trading on Wall Street.

 Mobile to Mac

Apple first announced the latest update of the operating system in February. The update continues a trend to include components for desktop and laptop families that have been performed on the iPad and iPhone mobile devices.

These include the ability to upload and synchronize it with the material icloud Internet storage service, the introduction of the iMessage SMS-like service that allows calls between computers and handsets of the company, the ability to easily share material with Twitter and an application to the user video game scores compared against those of their friends.

The company has also taken steps for its expansion in China, including the adoption of Baidu as a search engine built-in toolbar of the web browser to help, and buttons to make it easy to share materials on the Sina Weibo microblogging, and video sharing sites Youku and Tudou.

However, the company's decision to distinguish the Mac system to keep iOS for mobile devices set to be challenged in October release of Microsoft Windows 8.

Microsoft offers users the ability to run the same system on both their tablet and desktop computers, making it easier to share software between them.

Windows 8 - and touchscreen apps Metro - described by Microsoft as the biggest revision of the interface in more than a decade. But one analyst said Mountain Lion was more of an incremental step forward.

"While there are a host of new features, this is not a major upgrade, as the latest version of Leo," says Brian Blau, research director at Gartner Tech.

"But Apple is also improving its Office-like software applications and creation along the way, so maybe you do not need such a big revision. And you must keep in mind it is only charging $ 20 [£ 13.99 in the UK] for the change. "

In contrast, Microsoft is charging $ 39.99 for an upgrade to Windows 8, while the Linux-based systems such as Ubuntu and Debian can be downloaded free.
